WhatsApp’s message delete and recall feature, which has been rumoured and leaked for ages, seems to be finally rolling out to users. Apparently it works if both parties to a message thread have the latest version of WhatsApp, and seems to be available to users on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone as well as the Web app. Users have reported seeing ‘Delete for Everyone’ and ‘Delete for Me’ as options when selecting messages and tapping the trash icon in a conversation. It works only for seven minutes after a message is sent, and parties are not notified that messages have been deleted by others. Users also report that the feature works not only for text messages but also photos, videos, contacts, and other types of messages. It seems as though it will take some time for this functionality to roll out to all WhatsApp users.
