This information was provided by Yuriy Ignat, speaker of the Press Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“As for Iran, there is evidence that the Russian army is indeed receiving and already using (Iranian UAVs – UNIAN). We have already seen one Shahed 136 shot down,” he said. During a recent briefing, U.S. military officials also confirmed the fact they are aware that the Russian Federation is attempting to source drones and ammunition from Iran and North Korea.

“It is clear that the target is very complex, and in order to shoot down just such targets, different systems are needed. In addition, our soldiers need to be vigilant. Visual observation posts will help identify these targets not only by radar but also visually. This is a new weapon in Russia that they were in great need of,” he said when commenting on the appearance of Iranian UAVs on the battlefield.

The speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that the Ukrainian army would have an adequate response and new methods of countering these challenges.

It was reported earlier that the remains of a downed Iranian UAV Shahed-136 (Russian marking Geran’-2) were found in the Dnipropetrovsk region. These drones belong to a category of loitering munition.

In addition, earlier OSINT investigators also reported that Ukrainian soldiers shot down an Iranian Shahed UAV in the Kupyansky district of the Kharkiv region.
